What are skin peels?
A Skin Peel involves application of a chemical solution to the skin to improve the appearance and quality of the skin. The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance contains a unique combination of acids to gently but effectively remove dull and dying cells allowing the healthy skin beneath to shine through.
The immediate effect is tighter pores and glowing skin – ideal before an event. After a mild peeling phase healthier skin is revealed. Peels are great for combating pigmentation, acne and scarring but also boost collagen for an anti-ageing effect.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is designed for use on the face but can also be used to tackle acne, pigmentation and signs of ageing on the neck, décolletage and back.
As a superficial medical grade peel the unique combination of acids are gentle but effective. It is normal to experience heat and tingling as the peel is first applied. This peaks within a minute and settles again around 3-5 minutes. In most cases it is very well tolerated but your practitioner will help you by distraction techniques or use of a fan. Depending on the condition of your skin and the reaction to the peel your practitioner may apply a second layer.
Single treatments are ideal before an event due to the immediate effects of tighter pores and glowing skin. It can also be a great way to kickstart a new skincare regime.
A course of three or more treatments is more powerful for tackling pigmentation, acne and scarring.
A regular peel every 1-3 months is an effective way to maintain fresh, healthy and even skin. It also promotes ‘collagen banking’ to prevent signs of ageing.
Obagi Blue Peel RADIANCE is suitable for all skin colours and types although caution is advised in sensitive skin. There are several contraindications to treatment including:

- Sunburn or wounds in the treatment area

- History of radiation therapy to the face
No specific preparation is required although if your skin is particularly dry your practitioner may recommend using products such as high quality moisturiser and SPF to restore the skin barrier prior to your peel. Your practitioner will advise you to avoid the use of certain products 3-5 days prior to your peel as they may increase skin sensitivity or cause a stronger reaction to the peel. These include:
It is important to use regular high quality moisturiser to maintain the skin barrier for 14 days and SPF 30+ to avoid rebound hyperpigmentation. Avoid sun exposure where possible. You should also avoid heavy exercise and hot/humid environments for 3 days and avoid scrubbing or picking the skin as this can lead to inflammation or possible infection.
Afterwards you will immediately notice tighter, brighter skin and smaller pores. Around day 3-5 up to day 7 the skin may be dry and tight and possibly experience flakiness and mild peeling in areas.
